The pleasure park was King Gustav the Third’s idea and he personally made many sketches for the park and the buildings. The park was not opened to the people until the 19th century, when it became a walking park for residents of the city. The Temple of the Echo, today a popular place for weddings, was originally an al fresco dining room.
